There's a poll up on ENWorld where Knockspell is one of the options, so I went to go and take a look at it. But ENWorld was down, and I got a page saying "Oops, this link is broken." Okay, so I'm still kind of in the mood for something weird, so I bookmarked over to the Necromancer Games site and clicked on the forums. Now, I don't know what's happening with NG, but there were posts six days old in their general forum. I was probably looking in the wrong place, so I clicked back to the main page, where the last update was 21 days old, talking about revisions to the site in the next "couple of weeks," and all sorts of things NG was going to be supporting. At this point, I was getting a weird vibe - not one based in fact, but just in the pattern and the order of things in this trip through the net. I clicked in the sidebar, to go to the NG Judges Guild area. Here, the updates were older - years ago - and there's a picture of Bob Bledsaw without any note that he's no longer alive.
Suddenly I had this bizarre feeling that I'd been paging through gaming sites in the aftermath of some mass death of gaming, like an archaeologist looking through Pompeii. Optimistic predictions in slow-moving sites, pictures of dead people, broken links...
It was very strange and eerie. I'm still a bit freaked out.
